ZRC Review – The Walking Dead Season 7, Episode 7

Things are chugging merrily along toward the midseason finale in Walking Dead land, and this week’s episode features a buddy comedy of sorts, between Negan, smiling despot and brutal murderer, and Carl, our ever-less-pint-sized would be assassin.

Less of a laugh track atmosphere than you might think though.

When last we left Carl, he was hidden in the back of a truck heading for Saviortown with Jesus. Which sounds like the name of a much more religious tv show.

At any rate, Carl arrives and tries to kill Negan, but misses, instead murdering two of his flunkies. Which leaves Negan with a dilemma of what to do with the gun toting kid.

Negan himself seems unsure. For a brief moment he even feels like an actual human being, and shows sympathy for Carl, dropping the exaggerated, amiable madman schtick and raising the possibility that ‘Negan’ is just another act, like Carol’s harmless housewife routine or Ezekiel’s king performance.

But then he goes right back to psychologically torturing a child, so… maybe not.

There’s not much else to say about this episode from a Zombie Rights perspective. Except that one of the Alexandrians finds a Zombie in a hunting platform, with a treasure map of sorts on his person, written in Latin.

Which is… odd on any number of levels.

Tune in next week for the exciting conclusion to half a season of ever-decreasing Undead involvement. Apparently.
