ZRC Review – Fear the Walking Dead Season 2, Episode 5 “Captive”

The Zombie Rights Campaign continues its examination of our culture’s tragically premiere Anti-Zombie spectacle (at least until Rick Grimes and crew return to keep making awful strategic decisions against Neegan).

When last we left our intrepid nautical murderers, they had just fended off a hijacking by some ham radio scam artist pirates, and taken one of the pirates captive. To show their moral superiority over the savage world they now live in, our heroes… turn the captive over to their ex-torturer comrade for ‘interrogation’?

Yikes.

Meanwhile, Alicia, who got everyone into this mess, is stuck with Travis at the villainous hideout, which we are kept in suspense about, but turns out to be precisely the sort of big boat that everyone already speculated it was.

Travis meanwhile is stuck in a cage below decks, where he runs into a familiar face from Episode 3: Alex, last seen adrift on a raft.

FEAR 2X5 TRAVIS AND ALEX

Alex is miffed that the protagonists of the Abigail marooned her with a helpless, suffering dying friend on the open ocean. As one might expect her to be.

Meanwhile, back on the boat of jerks, Chris takes matters into his own hands with the captive hijacker, and, well… Zombification may have occurred.

FEAR 2X5 ZOMBIFIED CAPTOR

Once again, our heroes, ladies and gents.

Naturally they come up with a plan to use their poor, abused, now Zombie prisoner as a trap to rescue Travis and Alicia, yadda yadda. Zombies as tools and not people is hardly groundbreaking for this show, but we must resolve ourselves not to become numb to their cruelty toward the Differently Animated.

After all, there is bound to be more next week.
