More Abuse of Term ‘Zombie’

Really, we’ve come to expect a lot of shallow, uninteresting bashing of the Undead, often simply by using words for Undead individuals (like, and most commonly, ‘Zombie’) to describe anything and everything you don’t personally care for.

Latest example, more ‘Zombie’ lies/mistruths/distortions in politics. This time about Medicaid, apparently.

I’m not hugely interested, for ZRC purposes, in whether the particular points under contention are true. The real issue here is the casual slander of Zombies every day by so many in the mainstream press. It needs to stop. Urgently.

  1. Eligibility is a huge worry for some. The Student Loan Forgiveness Act’s settlement and forgiveness arrangement only applies to federal student loans. The Student Loan Ranger repeatedly distinguishes between federal and private loans and offers information on relief for federal loans that is already available.

    • Student loans can be confusing, with many different types and and servicers. Consolidation exemplifies this confusion. There are many opportunities, but only one retains federal protections like income-driven repayment plans, deferments and forbearances, and forgiveness.
If you are consolidating federal student loans, consolidate into a Federal Consolidation Loan. These would be eligible for the Student Loan Forgiveness Act’s 10/10 arrangement and improvements to Public Service Loan Forgiveness, and the interest rate cap would submit an application to new loans after the act is passed. They also are eligible for the existing protections mentioned above.

Keep in mind, however, that consolidating loans may reset any progress you’ve made toward relief like Public Service Loan Forgiveness. If you consolidate federal loans through a private service, they are not eligible for relief under the Student Loan Forgiveness Act, or for any at present available relief.
A common point of bewilderment: Just because you make payments to lenders like Sallie Mae doesn’t mean you don’t have a federal loan. Log into the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS) to see if you at this time have a federal loan; it’s worth knowing if you can access some relief!

If you’re repaying student loans and want to simplify the procedure by making a single check every month, we’re content to help. Likewise, if you’ve fallen on financial hardship, Student Loan Consolidation can help you weather your status by lowering monthly payments and avoiding a default. If you’re already in default, we can help with that, too.

Our Consolidation team are specialists in providing the appropriate documentation needed to be submitted to the right channels. We have streamed lined the method and make it very simple. There are more than a few programs available and will qualify you for the best one. Please make contact with us to see which Student Loan Debt Releif arrangement is best for you.
