What could be more fun than the usual grim march through a violent post-apocalyptic environment featuring routine cruelty toward the Undead?

On this week’s Walking Dead, we see either a metaphor for the exploitation of the Differently Animated by the mercurial forces of capitalism, or… the exploitation of the Differently Animated by the mercurial forces of capitalism.
Honestly, it can be hard to tell with this show.

This week’s Walking Dead kicks off the brewing civil war amongst the Living populations, as Rick attempts to rally, well, everyone and their brother against Bat Happy Negan.

Negan is back in Alexandria for another confrontation with Rick, Rosita has obtained a Single Bullet to take him on, and a powder keg is ready to blow in this week’s Walking Dead.
Also, there are some Zombies around. Toward the edges.

Things are chugging merrily along toward the midseason finale in Walking Dead land, and this week’s episode features a buddy comedy of sorts, between Negan, smiling despot and brutal murderer, and Carl, our ever-less-pint-sized would be assassin.
Less of a laugh track atmosphere than you might think though.

This week TWD takes us back to two characters who disappeared midway through last season after the raid on the satellite outpost, reminding viewers that all the grief, pain, and prolonged cliffhangers have taken place over two weeks in the narrative.
Yiiiiiiikes.

This week TWD finally checks in on Maggie and Sasha, last seen in the aftermath of Negan’s bloody act of terror against the Rick gang.

When last we left our… hero… Daryl was seeing the inside of the Saviors’ operation. But what does the outside look like for a newly coerced paying customer?

In this week’s The Walking Dead we see more of the Savior’s compound, appropriately called The Sanctuary, and learn more of Daryl’s fate, which is about as cheerful as one might expect from this show.
Oh yes, and they oppress some Zombies.
